A House Covered with Solid Wood Shutters in Buenos Aires

Estudio PKA designed a residential project called Casa M&M, in the Santa Teresa district of Buenos Aires, with a view of the lagoon.

The residence is designed to preserve privacy, control sunlight, and command wide, open views of the natural surroundings.

The concept of the project started with a pure, primitive volume. Then, the spaces are arranged according to the orientation of the house within its own space. Large windows on the front facade are pulled back and shaded by wooden shutters.

Estudio PKA designed casa M&M as a two-story structure in harmony with its surroundings. The east-facing façade is planned to open with a single strip window covering the width of the volume.

Operable blinds on the west-facing rear façade allow homeowners to transform the interior according to the level of natural sunlight they desire.

The house is planned to change rapidly, from a light-filled frame to a closed, monolithic volume.
